The trawler Yesso was built by Cochrane & Sons Shipbuilders Ltd., Selby in 1911.

HMT Yesso was sunk by a mine laid by UC29 (Ernst Rosenow) just off Aberdeen Harbour entrance
THE WRECK
UKHO wreck card 2137 for HMT Yesso was created in February 1917 and gave the location of the wreck as ''WK LIES 056 DEGS, 5C FROM S BREAKWATER LT''. by May 1917 the card simply states ''WK OF YESSO REMOVED.''. but the entry in 1934 gives more details, ''14.7.34 WK OF YESSO WHICH WAS 045DEGS, 3.5C FROM S BREAKWATER, WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY THE HARBOUR AUTHORITY USING EXPLOSIVES ON 25.4.17. DEPTH FOLLOWING DISPERSAL WAS 45.25FT [LWS]. SHIP'S GUN AND BELL WERE SALVED.''
The wreck was never charted but was relocated in 2012 during a survey in position 5708.886N, 0203.330W and was described as ''GEN DEPTH APPROX 8.5MTRS. LIES APPROX 045/225 DEGS. AN INDENTATION IN THE SEABED CONTAINING ?MINOR DEBRIS''.
In 2013 more details were added ''. LEAST M/B DEPTH 8.19MTRS. LENGTH 16.68MTRS, WIDTH 6.36MTRS, HT 0.31MTR. LIES 155/355 DEGS''

Prior to hostilities opening he was employed as a marine engineer with the Strath Engineering Company. was 39 years of age, and leaves a widow and four of a family.
